Oh my goodness...

So last fall I talked with my college professor, Dr. Pearl Hansen, and she urged me to submit a presentation idea to the Nebraska Art Teacher Association fall conference.  Well I got the email today telling me that I made the cut... Oh My Goodness.

I am going to present at a state conference...

Me?

Wow!

Guess I better get to work on that so I don't mess things up to badly.

On another note, here is a before/after of the dresser I have been working on this summer.
(there are 2 dressers in the set and I forgot the before picture of the long dresser.)
original look... mine from childhood

~new and updated~

and the fun chandelier I got for their room ($10) that required the scrubbing of 68 crystals.

  1. Good for you! What are you going to present? I've been presenting workshops at my state conference for 9 or 10 years now, and it is a wonderful experience. You will meet so many people, and you will find your attendees will be very supportive, interested, and enthusiastic. It is definitely worth the time it takes to plan.

Now, about your dresser - very pretty! Can I ask what types of paints/process you used to get such good coverage?

    1. I am presenting on using a RSS feed to keep track of blogs...I am hoping all goes good. Thanks for the support.

I stripped the dresser with a gel stripper and then sanded it. My hubby primed it, sanded it and then finished it with NuCling Satin White (he is a professional painter and used his standard color). He applied it with his airless sprayer so it looks really smooth. On the handles I used steel wook, NoSand and then Krylon Spray paint.

  2. Congratulations on the presentation!!
I love your dresser. I love getting Craigslist/Thrift store finds for cheap and then fixing them up! I just made over a mantel - I wish I had a spray paint thing ... brushing without dripping or slopping for this gal is not easy LOL!
I'd love for you to check out my blog

    1. Thanks Kristin... checked out the blog and added it to my subscription list! I would love to see your mantel. We have a local business that is going out of business and they refinish furniture. They have YEARS worth of stuff they will be selling... including a few solid wood mantels. I can't wait!
