check out these hardworking students |
thanks to many years of watching my mom make cakes.
start with a fist size chunk of clay |
Roll out finger sized coils of clay |
Pinch the top of the coil |
Roll up the coil |
This is the center of your flower. Repeat to add more petals. |
Ta-dah... a ROSE! |
Build as many flowers as you want... but they have to hook together. |
smash out some clay (in your hand) for a leaf |
add leaf details |
Make sure everything is slipped and scored and fastened together. |
Hope everyone is "enjoying" these last crazy days of school. It never fails to amaze me how much stuff there is to do at the end.
Wow. Thanks for the instructions. Will have to try them next year!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! Want to try this for sure!
ReplyDeletethank you! my 6th graders were asking to do a clay project, this is perfect for an end of year thank you to the parents.
ReplyDeleteWOW amazing. this is such wonderful art and gift
ReplyDeleteLovely! I'm going to let my 5th graders give it a try! They will not have an opportunity to do this at our middle school! Great for learning to make coils, and not too technical! WooHoo! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou fire these in the kiln, right?
ReplyDeleteYou fire these in the kiln, right?
ReplyDeleteYes I Bisque Fire them... Since we paint with tempera paint and varnish we don't do a glaze fire. You could glaze and fire them a second time.
DeleteI would love to do this if I had something to fire them in. I would love to work with clay but I have no kiln.
ReplyDeleteIt would work with air dry clay! ... or even oven bake clay.
DeleteI clicked the link on the link "Capodimonte inspired flowers" and was shocked that a porn site came up. I would remove this hyperlink.
